The 5th & 6th graders learned about movie music and sound effects in music class. We talked about how music enhances our movie viewing experience by helping to set the mood and describe what is happening in a scene. Then, students were split into groups and each group was assigned a section of a classic Mickey Mouse film to create their own music and sound effects for. Students were able to use a variety of instruments, as well as their own voices. Here is their finished video! Enjoy! :)

Our 4th–6th graders had the opportunity to visit the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora today as part of the celebration of what would have been Theodore Roosevelt’s 168th birthday! 🎉
We also learned how the library was designed with energy efficiency in mind. It was a great day of learning and exploring in the beautiful Badlands! 💙

7th and 8th graders are attending Junior High Ag Day in Belfield this Wednesday. Please be at school at 7:20 am. Lunch will be provided and the students will be back by end of school to catch buses.
Grades 4-6 are going on a field trip tomorrow to the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library. They would like to leave as close to 8:00 as possible. The bus routes will run about 5-10 minutes early tomorrow so they can leave on time. If those students ride with a sibling, please have them arrive at the school by 8:00. Thanks.
Tonight's elementary basketball games in Hettinger have been postponed to a later date. We will also not have elementary basketball practice due to lack of facility space. Sorry for the late notice.
Tomorrow, October 27th, our 4th–6th graders are heading to Medora for the Theodore Roosevelt birthday celebration!
Please have students at school by 8:00 a.m. so we can get the buses loaded and ready to go. We’re looking forward to a fun day of learning at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library!

🌎 Where in the world were the Scranton teachers?
Here’s a glimpse at a few places they visited during their professional development day! Our teachers traveled to Bowman, Medora, Belfield, South Heart, Dickinson, Mott, and Killdeer to learn from fellow educators. Some of the best PD is seeing other teachers in action.
Thanks to our teachers for always looking for ways to grow. And thank you to the schools and teachers who welcomed us!
