WELCOME BACK, STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND STAFF!
Welcome back! I hope this message finds you rested, recharged, and ready to go! We are so excited to kick off this coming school year which we know will be filled with opportunity, learning, and growth.
Our custodial staff has been working extremely hard over the summer to prepare for the new year. We have made some building updates we are excited for with some new paint and carpet. The classrooms and hallway will be waxed and ready to go. As always, our building may be of the older variety, but the years of taking pride in the facility show as it is in great shape. Thank you Marie, Arica, Mychel, Ty, Maddox, and Heather for your great work with the summer maintenance!
Our students will be welcomed by some new staff members this year. We are super excited to have Mr. Weldele, Miss Madrigal, Miss Buckman, Miss Galvin, and Miss Haugen join our team. We are also excited to have Mrs. Engraf rejoin the team to help guide our young staff and help us grow in the profession. The team just continues to evolve and grow into one amazing group of people focused on the mission of providing the best educational experience possible for our students.
Mr. Weldele will be taking over our 7-12 history position. He brings a great deal of experience, with over 28 years as an educator under his belt in areas like social studies and credit recovery. He has a strong skillset in building relationships with students and classroom management. We look forward to seeing our Social Science programs make a nice leap moving forward under his tutelage.
Miss Madrigal will be the new 2nd grade teacher this year. We are looking at an innovative teacher that will bring a fresh perspective to early childhood education. Her philosophy in teaching emphasizes creativity and diverse instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Our 2nd grade students are in line for a wonderful year.
Miss Buckman will be doing her student teaching in 7-12 english this fall semester. She was a very fun interview and we believe she will be a budding star in the profession. Once the student teaching is completed, she will take over our secondary english classroom and make it her own. We feel very fortunate to have her as she begins her professional career.
Mrs. Engraf is coming back the fall semester to tutor and guide Miss Buckman in her student teaching experience. Mrs. Engraf spent years and years teaching the students at Scranton High School and we are so fortunate that she stepped out of retirement to help us in provide a great learning experience for our students this coming fall. We look forward to having her expertise in our building once again.
Miss Galvin will be our behavioral specialist and work as a paraprofessional in our resource room. Miss Galvin brings experience in working in the mental health field. She has strong skills that include conflict management and student self regulation. We look forward to having her assist students in making gains in behavior management as well as assisting in the resource room as an aide for students that need that extra assistance.
We also want to welcome Miss Amy Haugen to the administrative team. She is the new face in the office taking over as the business manager and secretary. She is ready for the challenge and has done a wonderful job this summer getting us ready for the new year. She is going to be such a strong member to the team and will allow the school to run smoothly just as it has in the past.
We believe that we have an extremely impressive staff on board that is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for every student.
